TMP is the Traffic Management Plan; TTM is temporary traffic management; STMS is the Site Traffic Management Supervisor; TMO is a Traffic Management Operative; RCA is the road controlling authority; CAR is a Corridor Access Request; WAP is a Works Access Permit; TMD is a Traffic Management Diagram; NZGTTM is the New Zealand Guide to Temporary Traffic Management; CoPTTM is the older Code of Practice; PCBU is the person conducting a business or undertaking; SSSP is a Site-Specific Safety Plan; JSA is a Job Safety Analysis.

How the terms connect

The PCBU or contractor plans the work, the STMS/TMO may install or manage controls on site, the TMP and TMD describe the controls, the CAR requests corridor access, the WAP records approval, and the RCA or council reviews it all against NZGTTM expectations.

What matters for submissions

Use terms consistently and accurately. A submission that mixes up CAR, WAP and TMP or leaves out the PCBU responsibilities looks less credible and can trigger unnecessary questions.

Common questions

Who reviews the TMP or CAR?

The relevant council, RCA or network owner reviews the submission. Our role is to help make the information clearer, more complete and easier to respond to.

What do you need before starting?

Send the work location, scope, dates, site plans or markups, methodology, hours of work, access needs, photos if available, and any RCA comments already received.
